his last days

Fletcher James
March 14, 2007 - January 24, 2010

Some of his last photos

He was a part of our everyday lives. Where we were, he could always be found.

As my Aunt Judy was dancing, he was getting ready to bolt out the door to join us when we were heading out to dinner. Good try, Fletch.

I'm not sure what was happening in this picture exactly. It looks like Shawn was petting him and Pocahontas was posing.

Fletch surely loved Aunt Judy.

The snow outside was something he loved.

What a pretty boy

Thank you so much for your encouraging comments and prayers yesterday. Blogging, in general, is such a great way for me to put my thoughts down, share our story, and get to know so many wonderful people.

The children are doing well today. We've all cried at varying times and the pain is still fresh and deep. The worst times seem to be at bedtime and first thing in the morning. Fletcher always went into each child's bedroom to say goodnight. He would go over to them as they lay their head down on the pillow to say his own version of "Good night".

Sweet dreams, Fletch.

What a sweet post!! I dread the day something happens to our dog - she's 10 - but our kids just adore her so!!!! Thinking of you all!

Beautiful.

I am so sorry about your loss!! I can't imagine how I'm going to feel when my sweet pup goes. My husband, because he loves our dog so, actually wants to retire (in like 30 years -- he's not even started his "real" career yet) and become a grief pet therapist because he feels like people need some outlet for their pain.

Praying for y'all. I know Fletcher was family.

Such a pretty boy...dogs are part of the family and they bring an energy to the house that we don't always recognize until they are gone. Thinking of you all.

Hello!
I don't know you - I don't even know how I found you - i saw you on someone's side blogroll . . . but I know I can't even see my keyboard because of the tears. Golly it hurts so bad when we lose a pet. I always say "Never again" but my heart just breaks, and then the pain begins to ebb just a tiny bit and I'll think to myself "I need to cuddle something - I need something to make me laugh and make me cry . . . ". I can't imagine going without any pet at all.
Now we have two little mischief makers that do just that - but I will never, ever forget my first 2 dogs and our one cat we had for 17 years.
What wonderful memories you have of Fletcher- and how many laughs and smiles he gave you.
Big giant hugs!
Karen

This post made me teary. We had a red golden for 12 years and though he's been gone almost four years now, the kids still talk about him all the time. We have an English golden puppy now and a maltese, but there's no replacing our Jake-y. Love and prayers to you and to your family,
hugs,
edie
