One Piece At A Time

I absolutely love to quilt! In fact I saw this beautiful quilt made by another blogger, and bought the same kit on ebay at Quilt Taffy. The one I'm working on in these pictures is different though. It will be a quilt for our bed. I've always made wall hangings, but now it's time to work on something a little bigger. I can't wait to finish it. The thing is that I do everything by hand. I don't own a sewing machine, and if I did, it scares me to figure out how to use it.

What kind of hobby(ies) do you have? I'd love to hear about them. I also scrapbook, although that doesn't take place very often. It's tough to find the time and I want to create each page so that's it different and beautiful.

This is one of the quilt squares

A little closer look

Such concentration!

I still have some pieces to add to this particular sqare.

Perhaps one day I'll use a sewing machine, especially since I would love to make a queen size quilt for each of our children.

Wow. I cannot knit, sew or quilt or anything. I do have a beautiful quilt that some gals from our church made me for my birthday!

Gardening used to be my hobby but I don't do it much anymore.....now I am more into growing weeds...sigh. But I do love organizing!

My hobby is scrapbooking and photography, though not very good at either...I just love doing both. Very beautiful quilt.

Great job! Looks like fun, but not for me - I pretty much hate sewing.

And my hobby? Well, that would be BLOGGING.

Glad to see you're back!! We missed you!!

I wish I had the patience to do that. My mom sews and quilts. She made my boys blankets a few years back and they still hold dear to them! One day I would like to quilt all of their sports jerseys together! My hobbies include scrapping photography, and reading! Good job, can't wait to see the finished product!

Your quilt is lovely.

I like to scrapbook, read, garden and cook. I don't have time to do as much of these things as I would like though!

Enjoy your day...Joyce

Oh I wish I could sew (in any fashion).... that quilt is going to be beautiful. My friend and I always joke that we don't have hobbies!

Good Morning Carol!
Thank you for visiting my blog! We have so much in common! Yes, I love teacups! and Teapots, vintage - all those treasurey kinds of things. I LOVE scrapbooking, you should see my new scraproom! I was raised quilting by both my Grandma and my Mom, but stepped away from it to raise the kids and be "mom"... and now last Nov. treated myself to a new sewing machine and am beginning again. I did a tree skirt and a few pillows for the kids by hand over the years. But now I'm back to the machine for the piecing, but will hopefully still do the quilting by hand.
I would like to take some knitting classes, but there just aren't enough hours in the day! Maybe this summer I'll find some time.
My hat is off to you for homeschooling FIVE kids. There is a special place in Heaven for all the homeschool Moms. I could never, ever, EVER do it!
Again thanks for visiting! Come back soon. I'm so tickled you wrote, cause I now I have both you and Joyce in jolly ol' England to follow! Yay!
HAGD! Karen

Hmm. . . didn't mean to sound too negative about sewing. . . it's just that. . .it all stemmed from a semester of Home Ec (while homeschooling) around the 7th Grade.

I made a babydoll dress.

It took all semester, and by the end of the semester, I hated the fabric.

Why did I pick such an ugly beige/brown?

And I hated the dress. After spending that much time on it, it had lost all it's newness.

The only time I ever remember wearing it was to my Great Grandmother's funeral, which was a freaky affair in and of itself, being at the Greek Orthodox Church. . . lots of incense and chanting in Greek.

So now you know. I don't just hate sewing for NO reason.

Great...one more thing to be envious of!!! I can NOT believe you do that all by hand!!!!

I do own a sewing machine, and I have made some really adorable outfits for The Beez, but aside from that, a few pillows and some curtains, I can not claim too much.

My main problem is that I do not "speak" sewing....the stupid patterns usually have me tearing my hair out, so I usually just lay it all out and figure out how a non-sower would do it.

I am so glad your back...I have been blog absent the past week but I will get back on it ASAP.
