What’s the Thursday 13?
The Thursday 13 is a weekly meme with a simple theme: each Thursday you blog a list of 13 things. What kind of things? Any kind! Just come up with a list theme and run with it. One week you may list “13 things on my mind” and maybe the next week you’d list “my top 13 favorite movies”. Back in early 2007, Janet came up with the idea of going through the alphabet; “13 Things I Love that begin with the letter A”, etc. That gives you 26 weeks of ideas! Each new 13 will be posted at approximately 8PM EST every Wednesday evening.

My list : 13 Things I am looking forward to this summer:
1. Our friends from England coming to visit for 2 weeks at the end of July. Phil, Jane, Amy, and Megan will be flying over on July 29th. We are taking a few day trips in Michigan and will be relaxing by the pool just taking it easy. After that we'll be heading out west to Yellowstone followed by the Grand Canyon. (Not looking forward to all the driving!) On the way, our family plans on seeing Mount Rushmore and the Little House on the Prairie museum among other places. I can't wait to see the Savage family!!
2. Pool Dayz: Every Tuesday I open my pool to friends from 10 - 3. Last year we had perfect weather just about every week soaking in the sun, swimming, eating together, and just connecting.
3. Paint projects. Yes, I said paint projects. I love finding things at garage sales and Goodwill and fixing them up.
4. Going to garage sales.
5. Having some of my family from New Jersey come for a weekend visit in just 2 weeks. I can't wait. A few of our cousins from Indiana will be coming up to join us.
6. Taking it easy and not doing school.
7. Enjoying barbecues as a family. My husband grills some mean food.
8. Reading on the front porch and having quiet time with the Lord on my back deck.
9. Going to South Haven for beach days.
10. Spending time with my girlfriends.
11. Cooking and baking with the kids.
12. Playing volleyball out front.
13. Going for walks after dinner with my groom.
How 'bout you? What are you looking forward to this summer?

*Sigh* Your porch! Your pool! Your family! So wonderful.
I could have really used your pool this past Tuesday. Here in northern Illinois, we had heat indexes of 100 degrees, and our A/C wasn't working!
Really enjoyed your list and your blog. I sense a kindred spirit. Hope you'll check mine out:

I love your list. How fun to have England friends to visit. Your pool looks so nice...wish I were close enough for a Tuesday swim : )
Souunds like a well planned summer full of events and fun. Can't beat that porch my goodness!
Sounds like you have a wonderful summer lined up. How exciting that your friends from England get to come visit, I know you'll all have a great time.
Sounds divine. I like this idea, too. Might have to take up your 13 things of summer, though. We sure love summer around here! Of course, we love winter, too. And spring and fall, while we are on the topic.
I did get your email, way back when. I wanted to mention how much I appreciate it. I am trying to work through replys... but computer time is so limited and I am always torn about what to do first... catch up on blogging, email or the real work I am supposed to be doing on the computer. With summer here, I am slowly but surely making my way down the list. Sigh.
Hugs, my friend.

sounds like fun fun fun!
So glad you stopped by my blog and left a message. I look forward to getting to know you and your family better.
I took my 6 youngest kids (ages 8-17) on a 9,000 mile cross country road trip last August/September. (You can read about it in the archives of my blog.) We visited the Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore, along with 7 other National Parks and Monuments. My kids LOVED the Jr. Ranger program at each of the parks. They usually cost just a couple of dollars, and the kids can earn badges and/or patches. It is VERY educational for the WHOLE family.
Ahhh ... a pool and a front porch. My dreams.
What am I looking forward to?
TWO of my Big Kids are getting married in July. Oh my! We had our first child's wedding in December, and another that is hoping for a fall wedding. So, we will have 4 of our kids getting married in less than a year. Crazy ... but FUN!!! We LOVE the new daughters and son in law. :)
I'm hoping to plan a road trip through Michigan. I'll plan to be at your place on a Tuesday Pool day.
:) :) :)
