Malaga Memories

Back in October, my friend, Leah, and I had a little conversation. The conversation went something like this.

"We ought to go away on a girlie weekend.
Yeah, we should.
Where would you want to go?
Anywhere. It just sounds good."

The conversation probably didn't go exactly like that, verbatim, but it resembled its contents.

So months went by, life happened, in big ways and small, difficult ways and easy, hectically and at a snail's pace and we made the weekend happen just a few days ago. God made it happen and I am thankful and blessed.

We had choices like Amsterdam, Belgium, Paris, Rome, and Vienna. They are all so appealing, and yet warmth was calling us. I had been to Barcelona and Mallorca, but never to Malaga. And the funny thing is Leah's husband also thought Malaga sounded good when he was at home surfing the web for just the perfect place.

Sounded like a great plan.

And it was.

We walked along this pathway which was adjacent to the street that our hotel was on.

Since it was Saturday, there were all kinds of people out rollerblading, bike riding, walking, fishing, eating, swimming! and just enjoying the weather.

I just had to take a picture of what reminded me of our family's cruise vacation last June.

It was so nice to walk along the beach for miles.

Leah in all her loveliness.

These little boats were along the beach, packed with dirt and coals, frying up some kind of fish. Different kinds of fish. Austin would have loved to see it AND eat it.

Any idea what kind of fish that is? I see it and think of 'smelt' for no apparent reason. That word just jumps in my head because I certainly am not a fish connoisseur. Austin would know.

We sat here for a couple of hours enjoying the scenery, laughing, contemplating, trying to communicate with the waiter with the little Spanish that we knew, and relaxing because...

that's what this weekend was all about.

I love checking in with you daily. I think that it is go great that you are going to have so many memories and photo's of all the wonderful things that you were able to do. It amazing to think of what a hard choice it was to make when you guys had to leave and to know that it's already time to come back. I'm so happy with the way that each one of you have been blessed just by hearing God's voice and doing exactly what he asked of you. The lives that your family touch is countless and the memories that you leave us with last forever! Can't wait to hug you when you get back home.
