This is my last Independence Day post, but it has to be written about.
Since we celebrated Independence Day on June 28th with other Expats and friends, on the actual holiday, we had committed to do a 5 mile walk for a charity called "Walk to Romania". The girls and I only went as Shawn took the boys to baseball and we joined our friends Phil and Jane with their daughters. Fletch was able to go, too, and he loved it.
These same friends had asked us a while back what we were doing on that day after the walk and then proceeded to ask us if we would be interested in going to a barbecue at their house and we accepted. Unbeknownst to us, Phil had come up with an idea. He was fully aware that it was an American holiday for us.
When we walked into their home, we noticed very quickly that there was an American Flag hanging outside on their patio deck. We were so moved by this gesture because it was extremely thoughtful and made us feel special.
I had my camera with me that day and completely forgot to take photos. I asked Phil in church if he would get a couple for me and he did.
Aren't they the sweetest? :-)
I had to share their hearts and our heartfelt gratitude. They are great friends!

I'll eventually get some pictures up...now that the home computer is up and running I'm feeling hopeful.
At least I'm catching up on my emails! I'm looking forward to your recipes...thanks!
Sounds like you have some fantastic friends there, across the pond!!
Carol,
WOW! What an amazing and simple gesture that created such a powerful feeling for you! Isn't it amazing how something so small makes your day so much better because of it.
